thanks guysss

i have a new tutorial (:

(soo i had this ALL typed up and ready to post last night.. the fire fox crashed on me.. soo there's some minor details i dont remember)

ok so we're going to be making this banner

IMPORTANT! make sure your pictures are HQ! or this doesnt work well.

first get your pictures and color/sharpen then however you'd like. DO NOT reseize them tho..

then i chose do to a sig thats 450x210.. so just put that over to the side for now

soo we're going to cut david out of the background basically.. this may be a little tricky, so im going to try and explain it the best as i can

so on Paint Shop Pro the tool is known as the Freehand Selection (i guess on PS you can use either the lasso tool OR the quick select tool. idk what one is better lol)

so THEN i make sure my Freehand Selection tool is set to Smart Edge

then what I do, is zoom in REALLY close (it makes it a heck of a lot easier) like if you notice i zoomed in at 600% LOL.. but you start at the bottom of the picture and just basically click around the edge of him, you kind of guide the tool.. its pretty smart at finding the edge (hence the name of the setting) sometimes its a little off but if its not a drastic thing, leave it no one will ever notice once its back to its regualer size

so you pretty much go all the way around david (DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START ALL OVER) , dont go too fast, or it will kinda jump arround.. it is tricky the first few times, so just practice and you'll get the hang of it.. soo once you reach the bottom on the OTHER side.. drag it across the bottom and DOUBLE click at where you started

so now it should look like this when you zoom out of it

so now what I do is copy the selection and paste it as a new image and it should look somewhat like this

then i decided to resize to 60% of what it was

THEN i do the same thing with my other picture.

So I fill in my 450x210 cavnas with a purple color, and paste the two pictures of david as new layers..
THEN what i did was added THIS texture, but just add it to the program first.

i resized it to a size that was fit for the sig (this is one of the things i forgot lol)

AND then i mirrored it.

so it should now look like this

then i added it into the graphic UNDER the picture layers but OVER the purple layer.. and set it at Luminance and like 35ish (yeah i kinda lost the exact capacity but its AROUND there)

so now it looks like this

then i took the selection tool and just randomly made a rectangle shape and i filled in it with white.

then i cut it from the banner.

then i pasted it as a new image and rotated it

THEN copy it and paste it back onto the banner UNDER david but OVER the textures

THEN i added the text

and end result is..

if anything is confusing LET ME KNOW.
I'm over my head and I know it, I know it. I'm doing my best not to show it, to show it.
Whatever it takes to be, what I was meant to be I'm gonna try. ♥

heres an icon tutorial from my art thread a bit ago

original cap
translatable? probably
difficulty-easy to medium
psd here

STEP ONE
make a 100x100 canvas,resize the image..etc

STEP TWO
**why we're doing it: its a bit too blurry and too dark-you may want to change the opacity when the tutorial is finished**

duplicate the base, sharpen it twice, set it to screen, opacity 58%

STEP THREE
**i took this step from someone else a while ago(if its you, tell me and i can give you proper credit) and it really helps bring out the oranges, which i think was needed for this cap. orangey skin> purpley skin, if you ask me. and it didnt turn out too orange, thats why the opacity is still at 100**

selective color-set to normal, opacity 100%
reds: -100 0 +100 0
yellows: -100 0 +100 0

STEP FOUR
**i just wanted to add a bit more contrast with this layer, anytime you play with color balance, keep this in mind-if you make the midtones + 0 - and the shadows - 0 + (or vice versa, - meaning negative and to the lft and + meaning positive and to the right) you wil always add more contrast to the layer-many artists dislike doing that because of it, but i LOVE it**

-color balance- set to normal, opacity 40%
midtones: +63 0 -57
shadows: -47 0 +32

STEP FIVE
**i think the image was too bright, so i wanted to tone it down a bit with this brown layer, i dont know why but brown exclusion layers have become a favorite fo mine. i think its because it still preserves the levels of the picture but makes it a big less bright, which is perfect for this case**

-color fill-set to exclusion, opacity 60%
#4b2401

STEP SIX
**it looked a bit odd, so i wanted to add a little more blue and cyan to it, but not too much**

hue/saturation-set to normal, opacity 10%
master: -150 0 0

DONE!
(credit loved but not needed)

here is a tutorial i did yesterday in my art thread its not the best but here it is. if you have any questions just ask me.

a tutorial on how to make these two pictures look like on image together

so this is going to be a banner first thing you do is create a new document with the dementions of 600 pixels by 300 pixels. after you click ok.

next you will need to pick the picture you are going to use for the banner here is the picture we are going to place first

once the picture is placed you will want to move it all the way over and resize it so it fits, you want to click on the paperclip at the top to get it to the size you want once you do that you want to click on something on the tool bar to get it placed.

next you are going want to erase the edge of the picture so you are click on the eraser tool and use the airbrush soft round 45 brush and the hardness needs to be set to 0

next you are going to be placing the second picture

after the second picture is placed you will follow the same steps you did for the first one.

after you have finished the same steps you did on the first picture all you have left is to color the banner.

first thing is to brighten the picture you can move to the way you want it.

after the image is brighten you want to use selective color to get it the way you want it to look. i would put what i used for the colorings but i didn't remember the coloring i used. after you are done with the selective coloring you want to change the color balance if you choose two.

After the coloring is set you are going to add text to it click the text tool on the tool bar and type in the text that you want to be used on the banner if you want text. after the text you typed is done you want to add effects to it click on the fx button towards the bottom and click on stroke and either go with color pattern or gradient and whichever one you decide to go with you will want to skew the type

once you have done that you are done with the banner and you just want to save it.

i hope i described it well for you guys i did the best hope you like more to come.

PSP Tuts

sema's new icon textures-part one

sema's new icon textures-part two

_________________________________

made with Photoshop CS3 Extended
can make with anything that has curves
comment if you use :]
tutorial requests? comment and i can make

Step One

find your caps. for the purpose of this banner, i'm going to be using this, this and this (from 3x22 of OTH, capped by OTH-CAPS)
Step Two
open your canvas.
i'm going to use a 500x200 canvas
photoshop settings

step three

i work better with one picture at a time so copy the first picture and paste it into the canvas

resize it until it has a height of 200 px (photoshop settings)

then move it to the left. (status check)

step four
copy the second picture and paste it into the canvas

resize it until its slightly bigger then the first picture (photoshop settings)

and then put it near the center (status check)

step four b

things look a bit off, so im going to move BOTH pictures a bit to the left

step five - BLENDING
i use the layer mask style of blending. it helps me insure that i wont mess up and if i do, then i can always redo it without causing harm to the graphic

if you are using photoshop

layer>>layer masks>>reveal all
then use the brush tool. use a basic brush such as this
and making sure your COLOR is BLACK, paint where you want to erase
you want to erase everything left of brooke
(status check)
if you MESS UP, change the color of the brush to WHITE and go over what you wanted to keep

if using paint shop pro

do the same thing - but if you are not familiar with layer masks, click here
(your status check should look very similar to the PS one)

step six
copy/paste the third picture to your canvas
resize it so its slightly bigger then your second picture(photoshop settings)
then move it to the right
(status check)

step seven -BLENDING

i use the layer mask style of blending. it helps me insure that i wont mess up and if i do, then i can always redo it without causing harm to the graphic

if you are using photoshop

layer>>layer masks>>reveal all
then use the brush tool. use a basic brush such as this
and making sure your COLOR is BLACK, paint where you want to erase
you want to erase everything left of brooke
(status check)
if you MESS UP, change the color of the brush to WHITE and go over what you wanted to keep

if using paint shop pro

do the same thing - but if you are not familiar with layer masks, click here
(your status check should look very similar to the PS one)

give yourself a pat on the back if you got this far!

step eight
curves layer
(layer>>new adjustment layer>>curves)
make a new curves layer with the with the settings 126,192
(curves layer)

now the image looks rather dark, doesnt it?
now we're going to use the layer mask again and erase the curves layer off their faces
(status check)

step nine

next im going to take this texture that i made a while ago, and set it to COLOR DODGE
(status check)

step ten

i'm going to duplicate that layer (the texture) and set it to LIGHTEN
(status check)

you're now ready to add any text that you'd like

here's what i did
