« on: August 26, 2009, 02:58:43 PM »

WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL OTHFORUMS ART RESOURCE THREAD!

Looking for a specific coloring?
Need textures, fonts, brushes?
Got a question about a technique?
Well you've come to the right place!
All your questions about art making will be answered here.
This is a thread where all you art makers can come to seek help and benefit from each other,
hence the name "Artists With Benefits" (:
Post your textures, PSD's, brushes...anything you may find helpful to other artists!

Just the basics to make sure we're all on the same page:

-->
Some people are just starting out in making art.
Always be respectful to your fellow forum members and provide encouragement and support, ESPECIALLY to newbie artists.
Constructive criticism is allowed, however be sure to do it in RESPECTFUL way.

--> Credit, credit, credit. It can't be stressed enough!
If you post someone else's piece of art when referring to it,  credit MUST be give to it's rightful artist.
This goes for not only members on the forums, but everywhere else on the internet as well.
Whether you're looking  for a particular coloring or not, provide a link if you aren't sure of who the artist is.

When looking for a specific coloring :

--> Post an example of the coloring you are trying to achieve.

--> In your post, always state which art program and version you are using.

--> DON'T FORGET TO CREDIT !

WOOO! this thread is so exciting. I can't wait to see some of the techniques and textures people have!

ALSO I DO NOT use PS.. i use PAINT SHOP PRO (as there are others who do as well.. or other programs).. so for tutorials and stuff let us make sure if its translatable or not.. haha because I always like to know if it is.. (idk how you figure it out.. but if it has selective coloring it isn't translatable for my program LOL)

If I think of something to share with everyone I'll let you know!!
I'm over my head and I know it, I know it. I'm doing my best not to show it, to show it.
Whatever it takes to be, what I was meant to be I'm gonna try. ♥

I know that the majority of artists use Photo Shop, but that Paint Shop Pro is also a popular program used by them. I've always wondered what differences there are between the two :P

And yeah Mel, mentioning whether or not colorings are translatable or not would be a big help. It would suck to try a specific tutorial only to find out your program won't support it =/.

I agree that might actually be pretty cool. Not sure how it would work though, maybe an artist who uses PS can type out a basic tutorial of an icon, and an artist who uses PSP can type out there's. Then we could compare :D

i'll start off with a question

where does everyone get their brushes from/when/how often do you use them

everyone tells me htey love brushes but i rarely touch mine

and oh yeah, does anyone have CS4-like for photoshop, is it worth it? and if you didnt pay for the upgrade where did you get it free?

I have CS-4. It is sooooooooo much easier to use than 2 or 3. I say it's worth the upgrade. I have no idea where to get it for free though. :(

I use CS4, and I would say it's worth it, no idea where I got it from though :/

I honestly never use brushes unless i'm making a wall
