I think its because alot of people now a days aren't used to the old school style that Chad chose.

Just look on the forums, more than half the fans claim that the episode was way too cheesy, but if you look at movies back then they're supposed to be cheesy.

And I honestly think if the show was interesting in all of the other episodes there might have been a stronger base for Chad's episode.

Looking back now, my friends and I both think that Chad's episode is one of the most interesting episodes out of season 6. At least it wasn't recycled storylines...It's honestly one of my favorites.

Funny story... this is the only episode ever that my grandma and grandpa were actually interested in. They were so happy- thought it was like an old flick show. haha

Ok, I haven't been following the ratings but WHAT, we were under a million for quite a few eps?! Thats just....wow. Honestly, I think the show has begun to feel 'tired', recycled storylines, new characters taking up too much screentime etc.

No, it's not that bad :) Those episodes with R in brackers(R)were reruns and they usually have about a million viewers. ORH doesn't do well in reruns :)

I don't think it's completely true. I like old movies and while some of the dialogues may seem cheesy it's only because they were written in completely different times, so they seem cheesy for us, modern viewers but back in their times there weren't seem like it.

I completely agree with this opinion:

IMO the problem (well not really a problem) with the episode was Chad made it like it was from the '40s, not like it was from '09 about the '40s. You see what I mean?

I think this episode would be so much better if Chad didn't try to write about '40s like it was actully from the '40s but if he wrote about it from modern perspective.

Sorry for double post :)

^That's kind of what I was saying. To modern viewers, the old style isn't as appealing, but if Chad would have made it more modern it wouldn't have fit into the 40s style IMO.

I'm personally glad he took a chance and did something differennt and whether you love it or hate it- you have to admit that he took a risk and he went with it.

I actually liked it.
I also respect the cinematic aspect of it all, building all those sets, the wardrobe, all of it for a 41 minute episode.
I enjoyed it.
Obviously it was cheesy, it's almost 2o1o...
but it was cool, maybe would've enjoyed it in black and white though

It's not completely true. Ratins stared to slowly decrease before Chad's episode, from episode 6x09 I believe, take a look (the bolded part is Chad's episode 6x11):

I think the reason for it was that the quality of the show went drastically downhill after first few episodes. I hardly remember episodes from 9 to 16, because thehy were so boring :)

But I guess Chad's episode didn't help either since so many people didn't like it.

Holy crap, I hope that the March 2nd and the April 13th epis were re-runs lmao
Regardless, that's just sad :P

I loved his episode, I mean of course there was cheese,  but idk ,I guess since I'm a big fan of all that old fashioned stuff, it appealed to me, but not to most other people that watch  :-\

i tried to love it and some of it was really great- especially the way he paired BJG and PJ together, their scene was awesome, and i thought everybody was so clearly having a good time which is so nice to watch in a show these days lol. but i guess i just thought there was no real point to the story- he could have done so much more with it and the less said about the whole dove necklace thing and the Peyton getting shot and being "free at last" that was just... not good.

maybe Chad's bigger points were just kind of.. missed?

Because that episode sucked. I'm not going to sugarcoat it because a member of the cast wrote it. If Sophia or Joy wrote a crappy episode, I would make it known.

Not many people like AU episodes on TV shows. So, that might be one of the reasons why it did badly.

Maybe if Chad had written an episode that was actually with the rest of the season people would have liked it more. Or maybe not. It's hard to tell.

I didn't think the episode was THAT bad.

duhhhh because Lucas called Peyton "Pretty Girl"

and then there was a bunch of censored words here on the forums and that's pretty much all i remember about that day.

I agree.

It was just one of many bad episodes that S6 had to offer.

I don't care for Chad at all but I really like this episode. But maybe the reason I like it so much was because of the songs Joy wrote for the episode. It was not one of the best episodes and didn't really watch it the first night it came on but I loved all the Nathan and Haley moments.

I totally agree.  I wouldn't call that Chad's episode, Markis still the producer and IMO he made the wrong call and allowed Chad to write the episode.  Chad is a good actor, but if he wants to be a writer, IMO he should start small from scratch.

Well that showed Chad kinda suck as a writer, IIRC even most peytoners and LPers thought that was a wrong move
